FACEBOOK for BlackBerry updates in the Beta Zone – Cool Stuff at last!
RIM just let me know that they’ve launched a new beta version of Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones in the BlackBerry Beta Zone.
According to RIM, there are “currently well over 30 million monthly active users on Facebook for BlackBerry and approximately 21 million active daily users on Facebook for BlackBerry”.
These numbers are impressive but I’m wondering what took RIM so long to push this update out since it’s so popular.
No more complaining though because this new beta version includes the following much needed and much awaited changes:
- “Always On” Facebook Chat Notifications
- Redesigned Navigation Grid
- New Notifications Bar
- Improved News Feed Scrolling
- Enhanced Profiles
- Added Publisher Functionality
- Updated User Interface
While I know many of you are excited for this new version of the Facebook app, unfortunately the initial release is only available for users running BlackBerry 6 on their smartphones. Support for OS 4.6 and and higher will be added in later releases and fully supported when it’s officially launched.
